OUTDOOR 1st AID
This is a 16 hour outdoor emergency 1st aid course. Sponsored by Rescue Emergency Care, the course meets all the requirements of all of the Outdoor Governing Bodies. The course is highly practical and mostly conducted outdoors. The course is aimed at all outdoors folk, instructors, coaches, leaders and enthusiasts who wish to be safer and competent when help is not immediately available. The images below are just some of the highlights of this fast paced and fun two days. We can conduct the course at our venue in Toward, Argyll, or at a suitable venue of your choice.
Patient Assessment
The most important skill - if you cannot find the problem, you cannot fix it! Learn how to carefully assess a patient in the outdoors and feel confident not to miss anything.
Wounds
Know how to treat catastrophic and minor wounds from breaks, sprains,
CPR
Know when and how to conduct life saving CPR on adults, children and drowning victims. Use a defibrillator with confidence.
Teamwork
Learn how to work as a team, dividing the roles to best look after a casualty in the wilds.
Hypothermia
Know the signs and symptoms of hypothermia and hyperthermia, and what to do when there is no immediate ambulance. Keep a patient alive for extended periods.
Rescue Skills
Know when and how to safely move a casualty if required. Understand how to safely remove helmets and protect the rescuers and other groups members from the environment.
